A New Old Friend

Yesterday I had lunch with a writer friend from my past. Neither of us could explain how, why or when we drifted apart. We didn’t spend much time on it. Instead we quickly plunged into weighty topics such as death, the meaning of life, the themes we want to share through our writing.

This was meant to be a business lunch and we did eventually get around to discussing the matter at hand. She is a reporter looking for higher education stories. She left with a pile of leads. In fact, rather than wasting my employer’s time I believe we will receive more thoughtful and beneficial coverage as a result of the deep connection we re-established.

Welcome back into my life, Linda!
